Cue — Privacy policy

Who we are

Cue ("the app") is published by Chechu Siscar ("we", "us"). Contact: help@cuepresenter.com.

The short version

Your shows stay on your iPad: there are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking, and we never see your content. The only thing Cue collects is pseudonymous usage statistics and crash reports — which features get used and when the app misbehaves — tied to a random install identifier, never to you. You can turn this off anytime in Settings → Privacy.

The website and waiting list

That describes the Cue app. This website (cuepresenter.com) is separate, and — unlike the app — the waiting list collects some personal data, described here.

What we collect when you join the waiting list: the email address you enter, plus technical context your browser and our host provide automatically, with no extra permission requested — device type, operating system, browser and their versions, screen and window size, pixel ratio, language(s), time zone, light/dark preference, the page you submitted from, the referring page, the full browser user-agent string, and an approximate location derived from your IP address (country, region, city, and city-level coordinates). This location is coarse and IP-based, never GPS-precise.

Why we collect it: to gauge interest, plan the launch, and understand which devices and regions to prioritise.

Where it goes: your signup is handled by a function on our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) and stored in a private Google Sheet (Google LLC). It is never used for advertising, never combined with profiles from other sources, and never sold or shared beyond these processors. This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it: until Cue launches or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first — then we use your email once to let you know the app is available.

Your content stays on your device

Everything you build in Cue — media, lyrics, text, timers, scoreboards, scenes, playlists — is stored locally on your device. Cue has no servers that receive it. Sharing a .cuepack sends the file wherever you choose (AirDrop, Files, Mail); that transfer happens through Apple's or your chosen provider's services, not ours.

Analytics & crash reports

To understand which features matter and to fix bugs, Cue collects usage events and crash reports, processed by PostHog (PostHog Inc.) and stored on PostHog's EU cloud.

What is collected: feature-usage events (for example "an item went live", "a timer started", "media was imported"), coarse session information (app opened/backgrounded, show duration), device model, OS and app version, app language, and — if the app crashes — a technical crash report (stack trace and the last few operator actions). Events carry a random identifier generated for your install.

What is never collected: your media, lyrics, text, or any show content; your name, email, or any account information (Cue has no accounts); your precise location; advertising identifiers. The install identifier is never combined with other data to identify you, and nothing is used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Opting out: Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage & crash data". Turning it off stops all analytics and crash reporting immediately. The app never asks again and works identically either way.

Purchases

In-app purchases (Cue Pro) are processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We receive no payment details and no personal information about you — the app only reads the anonymous entitlement state Apple provides on the device to unlock features. Apple's own privacy policy governs the purchase itself.

Network features, explained

Some features talk to other devices or services. None of them send us anything:

• External displays. Video out over USB-C/HDMI or AirPlay goes directly to the display via Apple's frameworks.
• Remote control (experimental). When you turn it on, Cue serves a control web page from your device on your local Wi-Fi, protected by a session PIN. It is reachable only on your network and stops when you turn it off or leave the app.
• Network cameras (experimental). A companion camera app on your Wi-Fi streams video directly to your device using Bonjour discovery and WebRTC. The video never leaves your network and is never recorded.
• Web and YouTube content (experimental). If you add a web page or YouTube video, your device fetches that content directly from the site, subject to that site's own privacy policy. Cue also fetches YouTube titles/thumbnails from YouTube's public oEmbed endpoint when you paste a link.

Permissions Cue may request

• Photo library — only to import the photos and videos you pick.
• Camera — only to show a live camera on the output. Nothing is recorded.
• Local network — only for the remote-control page and network cameras above.
• Microphone — Cue never records or transmits audio. The permission string exists solely because the third-party video framework used for network cameras references microphone APIs; Cue does not request microphone access at runtime.

Children

Cue is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version of Cue ever changes what data is handled, we will update this policy and the app's App Store privacy label before that version ships.
